New Music: D’Banj - Bother You (for ‘Half of a Yellow Sun).

With the release of the film’s first official movie poster and now, this title song courtesy of D’Banj, the cinematic adaption of Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun is becoming all the more real.

Now, on the music video itself. Baba god, forgive me o, but what is going on? When did D’Banj become a stereotypical b-grade r&b singer? He’s even taken his trademark shades off, unbuttoned his crisp white shirt (and let the wind do the rest), and borrowed moves from this guy. It’s hard to take the entire thing seriously. As a matter of fact, I burst out laughing several times.

If anything, this song makes me not want to see the movie.

All Africa, All the time.

D’banj’s hit single, “Oliver Twist” has inspired the first ever Afrobeat musical in London’s prestigious West End.

The theatre production, which is based and named after his 2011 song, follows a promiscuous young man who is haunted by his past after meeting a certain girl.

The ‘Oliva Tweest’ musical will take place at the Lyric Theatre on 15 April.

TODAY’S CLASSIC TUNE: D’Banj - Why Me?

G.O.O.D. Music’s soon-to-be-released album ‘Cruel Summer’ was released yesterday, containing a track featuring Nigeria’s very own D’Banj who is the first, and only, African artist to be signed to the label.

We thought we’d resurrect one of his classic hits as our classic tune for today to see just how far he’s progressed as an artist.

NEW MUSIC: D’Banj & Sarkodie - Come To Me

Absolutely killer track from Nigeria’s Kokomaster king and Ghana’s premier rapper.

Kanye West’s short film Cruel Summer that was filmed in Qatar, recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The film stars most of the G.O.O.D. Music artist family including Nigerian Kokomaster D’Banj!
The protagonist in the film is played by Scott Mescudi (bka Kid Cudi) as a high-end sports car thief who falls in love with a blind Arab princess. However, before the pair are given her father’s blessing to marry, Mescudi’s character must metaphorically make the girl ‘see’.

THIS IS AMAZING: D’Banj vs The Real Oliver Twist

You know it had to be done, so here it is. A mash-up video that combines Nigerian Kokomaster D’Banj’s hit song ‘Oliver Twist’ with footage from the 1948 film of the same name.
