Joining the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Alfre Woodard, Ruth Negga, Adepero Oduye, Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch, Nyong’o is said to have been cast in the role of ‘Patsey’ - “a slave who is the object of both the affections and cruelty of Master Epps (Fassbender)”.
A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, Nyong’o was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya. She is an actress and indie filmmaker who many African audiences will know from her role as ‘Ayira’ in the MTV Staying Alive drama series ‘Shuga’.
